We had 6 games in the NBA tonight, here's a quick recap of each:
Game 1:
Minnesota Timberwolves-93
Orlando Magic-102
The Magic defense allowed only 32 second half points and erased a 12 point halftime deficit early in the 4th. Glen "big baby" Davis led the way with 28 points on 13 of 17 shooting. Kevin Love led the Twolves with 23 points and 15 boards. The Twolves shot only 41% in this one compared to 54% from the Magic.
Game 2:
Houston Rockets-109
New York Knicks- 96
Houston dominated both second and third quarters of this game outscoring the Knicks 54-29 in that period. Showered with boos in his return to New York, Jeremy Lin looked great hitting 9 of 15 shots for 22 points. Maybe Knicks fans forgot he wanted to stay and the Knicks let him go, but the boos were hilariously undeserved. James Harden led the Rockets with 28. Brittney Griner..errr, Chris Copeland led all scorers with 29 for the Knicks. The Knicks committed a season high 17 turnovers.
WHO'S WHO?
Game 3:
LA Clippers-88
Detroit Pistons-76
Detroit did its best to keep this one close, but the depth of LA proved to be too much. 5 players were in double figures for the Clippers as the team won both the rebound battle (42-34) and the turnover battle (15-11) which were the big differences in this one. The Clippers have now won 10 in a row. And then there was this dunk by Blake Griffin. See above^
Game 4:
Chicago Bulls-71
Memphis Grizzlies-80
In a defensive battle, the Grizzlies prevailed as neither team shot above 38% for the night. The Grizzlies won the rebound battle 51-39 and were led by Zach Randolph's 15 boards (inclduing 7 offensive) and Marc Gasol's 11. Mike Conley led the Grizz in scoring with 17. Carlos Boozer led the Bulls with 16 and 13.
Game 5:
San Antonio-93
OKC Thunder-107
In what looked on paper to be the game of the night, OKC made this one a laugher after dominating the game after half time. Already leading by 5 at the break, they stretched the lead to 18 by the start of the 4th. 4 players had big offensive games for the Thunder. Serge Ibaka had 25 points and 17 rebounds, Westbrook had 22 points and 9 assists, Kevin Martin had 20 and Kevin Durant added 19. The Thunder made 12 more free throws than the Spurs, who are now leading by only 1 game over Memphis in the Southwest division (they actually trail by 1 game in the loss column).
Game 6:
Sacramento Kings-90
Phoenix Suns-101
The Phoenix Suns starters dominated this game tonight. Shannon Brown had 22, Jared Dudley 20 (4-8 from downtown), and Luis Scola as well as Marcin Gortat had 14. Scola also dropped 10 dimes, while Gortat had 13 rebounds and blocks. The Kings were up 11 at the break, but lost the 3rd quarter 31-14. Jimmer Fredette did all he could, scoring 22 points and was the only King player to hit a three. I feel like I've mentioned it in a few games, but turnovers were huge in this as the Kings had 9 more than the Suns.
WOW, no true late games tonight allowing me to go to bed before 1AM for the first time in weeks, too bad I won't take advantage of this though...Halo 4 is calling to me.
